Haldon Forest Park
Haldon Forest Park is a beautiful 3,500 acre woodland in the Haldon Hills. There are exhilarating woodland cycling and mountain biking trails suitable for all abilities (cycle hire is available). For walkers there are fascinating discovery and forest walks appropriate for all abilities and for the more adventurous there's a dedicated orienteering course. Children can build woodland dens and follow a discovery trail, exploring play equipment along the way. The 'Go Ape' facility is a breathtaking trek through the tree tops on ladders, walkways and high wires. And for those interested in forest culture, there's a 'Centre for Contemporary Art and the Natural World'.
South Devon Beaches
It's a short drive to the beautiful sandy beaches at Dawlish, Dawlish Warren and Teignmouth and just a little further to those at Exmouth and Torbay.
Historic Exeter
The city of Exeter attracts shoppers and sightseers from far and wide. At it's heart is the wonderful six-hundred year old cathedral and ancient city walls. There are many fine buildings too, including the remarkable medieval Guildhall with its ornate 16th century exterior. And the quayside is a great place to browse in antique shops, walk and cycle, take a relaxing boat trip or find something good to eat in a riverside cafe or restaurant.
Dartmoor National Park
The spectacularly wild Dartmoor scenery is a magnet for walkers and ideal for picnics. There are the famous Dartmoor ponies and all manner of wildlife to see, and fascinating archeology and many charming towns and villages to explore. Exeter Racecourse
Haldon Forest park is also the setting for Exeter Racecourse, which hosts regular National Hunt race meetings between October and May.
